At DAME we make it our goal to be transparent. So we’re happy to tell you that our reusable pad is made up of five layers of material:
Core: A wicking layer that draws moisture away from your skin in seconds (polyamide, polyester, lycra)
Top and Bottom outer layers: Two layers of super-soft natural fibres that stay comfortable against your skin (lyocell, organic cotton)
Odour-proof inner layer: An absorbent odour-proof layer is made from 4D fabric technology that holds 10 times its weight in two seconds (organic cotton, bamboo, polyester)
Watertight backing: A watertight layer gives you extra security (polyurethane)
All materials are manufactured with no harmful chemicals or finishes. We have tried to use as many natural ingredients as possible, while making sure we have made a pad that gives you safety and confidence throughout your period.
Using a reusable pad is pretty simple, and similar to using a disposable pad. A few simple steps and you’re good to go:
Place the pad in your underwear, with the black DAMEDry™ bean shape facing upwards.
Fasten the wings around your underwear with the snap popper.
We recommend changing your pad every 4-6 hours, and at least once a day.
If you’re making the switch to reusable pads for the first time, it’s a good idea to check your pad more frequently the first few goes and to try out on a day when your period might be a bit lighter.
Please note this is just a benchmark, as only you know your flow. But if you’d like to chat further, please get in touch.
For best results, you can either rinse or soak your pads and liners before washing.1. If you have a DAME dry bag, add about 5cm of cold water to the bag and leave the pad to soak overnight (or at least 8 hours) then add to your next dark wash.2. Alternatively, you can rinse in cold water until it runs clear then throw the pad in with your full dark wash.
DAME reusable pads can be washed up to 40°c and with a full load and then left to air dry. Please don’t use any fabric softener as it will affect the absorbency of the pad.

Our reusable pads are also tumble dry friendly however, tumble dryers gobble up energy, and that means more emissions so we encourage you to air dry. It will also help make your pads last longer!
