Overview
In September 2026, Bristol Rovers became the first EFL club to install free period product dispensers, with 27 club-branded DAME dispensers now in the female toilets at the Memorial Stadium. The project was delivered in partnership with Her Game Too and has been covered by the club, the BBC, Bristol Express and Hits Radio.
The challenge
For most female fans, a period on matchday means a worry about whether they can get what they need inside the ground. Research with female football supporters found that 78.3% experience stress or anxiety about the availability of period products at matches, and 44.3% say these concerns have affected their enjoyment of a game.
Period care in stadiums has long been an afterthought. Bristol Rovers wanted every supporter at the Memorial Stadium to feel welcome and able to enjoy the full matchday experience, without having to plan around their cycle.
The solution
DAME supplied 27 dispensers branded in Bristol Rovers colours, installed across the female toilets at the Memorial Stadium ahead of the home fixture on 26 September 2026. Each one gives supporters free access to tampons and pads, with refills managed directly between the club and DAME.
- Made in the UK from waste plastic: the dispensers are 3D-printed to be ultra-lightweight and durable.
- Better products: DAME tampons and pads are made from GOTS-certified organic cotton.
- Club branding: each dispenser carries Bristol Rovers artwork, so provision feels part of the club rather than an add-on.
"Having DAME period products available within our female bathrooms is a small but significant step in making sure that everyone who comes to the Memorial Stadium feels welcome, comfortable and able to enjoy their matchday experience." Mitch Waddon, Head of Media & Engagement, Bristol Rovers
Our partnership with Her Game Too
The Bristol Rovers project grew out of DAME's partnership with Her Game Too, the campaign working to make football a more welcoming and equal space for women and girls. A lack of period products in female facilities is a concern regularly raised through Her Game Too's reporting line, so together we set out to bring free, club-branded dispensers into stadiums. We also ran a joint survey of female supporters to understand the scale of the problem, which produced the findings above. Chloe Watts, Her Game Too's Community Relations Coordinator and ambassador for Bristol Rovers Women, championed the project at the club from the start.
"Access to period products should never be a barrier to enjoying football, and this marks a fantastic step towards making the matchday experience more accessible and inclusive for supporters." Chloe Watts, Community Relations Coordinator, Her Game Too
