What is it?
Thrush is a common vaginal infection. It causes redness or itching around the vagina, and a thicker discharge that resembles cottage cheese.
Thrush is not a sexually transmitted infection. It is usually caused by the harmless yeast fungus Candida Albicans. This yeast lives on the skin and in the mouth, gut and vagina normally. Occasionally, however, conditions change and the numbers of Candida multiply and signs and symptoms can develop.
There are creams and pessaries you can buy at your local pharmacy for this however it is recommended that you see your GP to rule out other possible conditions. For more information see patient.info
